WELCOME TO THE OPAL COAST!

The Name

Back in the early '90s, Clive and Bill were strolling through Saltburn centre, when their gaze fell on a shop titled 'Opal Coast Tours'. It is still there but no longer open. But it seemed, at the time, an apt and poetic description for the wonderful coastal scenery of North East England.
Only later did we discover that the phrase refered to the coast of Brittany.
We trust you will agree this is a minor factual dislocation. More minor than the fact that there are now two Opal Coasts in cyberspace. This is Clive's.

The Aim

A literary-visual excursion originating in Saltburn and sending out its rhyzomes North West and South East to entangle much of the beautiful Opal Coast. So far, only a few of the stops are operable - the site is 'under development' - but growing fast.

And thanks for sailing with Opal Coast Tours.
